Lucia Wallace Elementary

Lucia Wallace is a 3rd and 4th grade building in Algona.  There are four sections at third grade and five sections at 4th grade with an average of 23-24 students per classroom.  We have implemented the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) concept at each grade level.  The teachers focus on implementing the Iowa Core and creating "What I Need" (WIN) groups based on data currently using math instruction.  Our students have a program called school to business partnerships between elementary classrooms and area businesses and organizations. This program focuses on six career pathways – nature, helping, health, creative, building & technology, and business.  Lucia Wallace is Blue Zone Certified, which focuses on making healthy choices in our daily routines.  In January of 2015, Lucia Wallace became a 1:1 computer environment.  All students have their own Chromebook to use during the school day.
