ACSD Wellness Committee

A school wellness committee is an action-oriented advisory group that focuses on the health and well-being of students, staff, and families in a school community. The school wellness committee implements the district wellness policy, and leads other health-related initiatives. This advisory group consists of parents, students, representatives of the school food authority, physical education teachers, school health professionals, school board members, administrators, and the public. The group participates in the development, implementation, review, and update of the policy which includes goals for nutrition education, physical activity, and other school-based activities that promote student wellness, using nutrition guidelines to promote student health, and reduce childhood obesity.

The committee meets annually. The date and time of the meeting will be posted on the ACSD page one month prior. The meetings are held in the High School Library.
