T. Larsen basketball 2023

The Bulldogs are almost done with their regular season games. The girls finished second in the Conference with a record of 12-2. Overall the girls are 15-6. The boys finished fourth in the Conference for the regular season with a record of 8-6 and an overall record of 13-7. 

The game at St. Edmonds on Friday, February 3rd, went well for the Bulldogs. The girls won their game 66-23. Lauren McLaughlin and Casey VanOtterloo had a great game against the Gaels. McLaughlin had 20 points and 4 steals and VanOtterloo had 15 points and 5 rebounds. The boys also won their game with a final score of 91-64. Caden Weber and Ben Helmers had a good game. Weber had 27 points and Helmers had 23 points. 

The boys played Iowa Falls-Alden on Saturday, February 4th. The boys had a great win over the Cadets with a final score of 75-46. Weber and Helmers were leading scorers again. Weber had 21 points on the night and Helmers had 15. 

On Tuesday, February 7th, the Bulldogs traveled to Clarion to take on the Cowgirls. The girls played a great game and won with a final score of 48-43. Lauren McLaughlin had a good performance against Clarion with 17 points and 7 rebounds. The boys also won their game against the Cowboys and ended with a score of 83-51. Simon Fechut had 20 points by the end of the night and Tristin Larsen had 14, both boys had an outstanding game.

The boys had a home game against Hampton-Dumont-Cal on Friday, February 10th. Alex Manske had a great performance against the Bulldogs, finishing the night with 21 points and a dunk! Helmers also had a great game with 21 points.  

The girls played their first round Regional game on Saturday, February 11th, at home against Southeast Valley. The girls played a great first round game with a final score of 71-49. VanOtterloo and McLaughlin had yet another great night. VanOtterloo had 21 points and McLaughlin had 19 points and 4 rebounds. 

The boys played their last regular season Conference game on Tuesday, February 14th, against Webster City. With a final score of 65-50, the boys had an amazing game. All of the boys played well against the Lynx. Helmers had 19 points and Manske had 14 points and 14 rebounds.

The girls had another home game on Wednesday, February 15th, which was their second round Regional game. The girls played Cherokee Washington and finished the night with a score of 52-44. VanOtterloo and McLaughlin led in points on the night. McLaughlin scored 18 points and had 8 rebounds and VanOtterloo had 17 points. 

The girls now advance to the Regional finals where they will travel to play Estherville on Saturday, February 18th. The girls will play at 7:00. Tora Solbach states, “Score more points than the other team and you win.”

The boys play their first round of postseason on Monday, February 20th. The boys will play at home against Spencer at 7:00. Spencer currently has a record of 7-13 while Algona is 13-7.
