Choir 2022

The Algona High School band and choir have some really exciting events coming up and have been doing some really fun things this semester.

The band and choir students got the chance to go on a trip to the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, February 4th. The Des Moines Symphony Orchestra is one of Iowa’s and the Midwest’s premier arts institutions. It’s a great symphony to watch if you have a love for music or are looking for an entertaining show to watch.

February is the month for choir. On the 6th, the IHSMA State Jazz Choir Festival was held in the Algona High School PAC. Here Algona High School’s Jazz Choir received a Division I rating! Next, from the 9th through the 11th, four students represented Algona at the UNI Northern Festival of Bands. Here they were joined with students from over 70 other schools in Iowa. Congrats to Dane Nygaard, Loralei Brady, Ace Studer, and Chance Studer, who got to participate.

The Algona High School also hosted the NC-ICDA Honor Choir on the 14th in the PAC.

Then on the 17th, the high school Jazz Choir is participating in a “Shake the Lakes” event, which will be held at home at 8:00pm. The band and choir students have been working on their jazz and choir pieces since the fall of 2022.

The next choir concert will be on March 2nd, at 7:00. This will be a 5th through 12th grade concert held in the PAC.

The next band concert will be held on March 7th, at 7:00pm, and the all school jazz concert will be on March 13th, also at 7:00pm. If you’re interested in watching the band or choir, make sure to see their upcoming performances. Waverly Espe said, “I’m looking forward to our next band concert.”
