Academic Night of Excellence 2023

The Academic Night of Excellence will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. This event will start at 7:00 pm. It will also be the night that juniors and seniors can be inducted into Algona’s chapter of National Honor Society.

The Academic Night of Excellence is for students who have excelled in academics. For freshmen and sophomores, they are required to have a cumulative grade point average of 3.7 or higher to be invited to this event. The juniors and seniors must have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or better to attend.

The current National Honor Society members will be hosting the induction ceremony for this year’s 26 new members. To be inducted into the National Honor Society, a junior or senior must meet the requirements of leadership, academics, volunteerism, and character. Levi Clegg will be presenting a speech on leadership and Beth Anderson will speak on character. Natalie Kleier will also be presenting a speech on academics, while Harrison Waltz talks about volunteerism. For the National Honor Society induction ceremony, the guest speaker this year will be Blake Mills.

NCC All Conference Academic will also be announced this night. For this award, seniors must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and scored a 26 or higher on the ACT.

Families were notified the week of February 28th on who was invited to attend this event. Desserts and refreshments will be provided at the end of the ceremony to celebrate their accomplishments. Ava Henry and Brooklyn Helmers state, “The cupcakes last year were the bomb.” And they are excited for them again this year.
