Boys' track 2023

On Monday, April 10, the girls’ and boys’ teams had a co-ed meet at Garrigan. The girls finished in second place overall while the boys finished in first place overall. 

Some highlights for the boys were first place finishes in the 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, 400 meter hurdles, long jump, high jump, discus, 4x400, and 4x800. For the girls’ meet, there were first place finishes in the 3000 meter run, high jump, 200 meter dash, 4x200, 4x800, and 4x400.

On Tuesday, April 11, the girls had a meet at home while the boys had a meet at Clear Lake. The girls placed fifth overall out of nine teams. First place finishes were in the 400 hurdles, high jump, 4x200, and 4x800. The boys placed second overall with first place finishes in the 1600 meter run, 3200 meter run, distance medley, 4x400, and high jump.

On Thursday, April 13, the girls had a track meet at North Iowa and placed second overall in class A. First place finishes were in the distance medley, 4x800, 4x400, and 400 hurdles.

On Friday, April 14, the boys competed at Estherville Lincoln Central and placed first overall. First place finishes were in the 1600, 4x100, sprint medley, distance medley, and discus.

Both teams competed in a co-ed meet at Spirit Lake on Tuesday, April 18..The girls placed second overall and the boys placed fourth overall. First place finishes for the boys were in the 800 and the 4x200. First place finishes for the girls were in the distance medley, 3000, 800, 1500, and 4x400. 

Macy Knapp, a sophomore, shares her thoughts on the season thus far. Knapp states, “It was fun running in Spirit Lake at the Sheryl Maahs Relays. I am related to her, so it was fun to run in her memory. These past few meets are getting me excited for the postseason. I think the team is in a really good spot right now.”

On Thursday, April 20, the boys will travel to Waukee. To end off this week, the boys will be traveling to Pocahontas on Friday.

Things don’t slow down any next week. On Monday, April 24, the girls will compete at Humboldt while the boys will compete at Mason City. On Tuesday, April 25, the girls will compete at Forest City while the boys will compete at Emmetsburg. To end off the week, the girls will compete at Spencer on Friday, April 28.
