This week’s Senior Spotlight is Ashley Cantu. Ashley is the daughter of
Samantha Frideres and Rey Cantu. Ashley has been going to Algona since preschool.
Ashley is a very on the go person; she does everything. She is involved in volleyball, track & field, softball, Student Senate, FCCLA, National Honor Society, National History Day, Mock Trial, and was on the Homecoming court, where she won queen. She also works at Hy-Vee in her free time.
In FCCLA, Cantu is the president of the Algona chapter. She has gone to every conference and meeting, and she was the first ever president of Algona’s FCCLA chapter.
In her activities Cantu has lettered in track & field, volleyball, and softball. In Student Senate, Ashley has been the class of 2024 president for the past three years Ashley has enjoyed being the class president and loves that she gets to help with her classes decisions.
Cantu’s advice for underclassmen is, “Get involved with activities and have the most fun you can.”
In her freetime, Ashley likes to hangout with friends or hangout with her baby sister, Addi.
Ashley plans on attending Iowa State University in the fall to study psychology.
