Sha-la-la-la-la-la my oh my, it’s time for the cast of The Little Mermaid Jr. to take the stage this weekend. You can become part of their world and come out to the Wilcox Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10 at the door. The show dates include Friday, January 26, at 7 pm; Saturday, January 27, at 7 pm; and a matinee on Sunday, January 28, at 2 pm. Adeline Reynolds, AHS junior playing Ariel, stated, “I am very excited for opening night as this is my first time ever being a part of something where I have a lead role.”
When asked about how rehearsals are coming, student director, Jasper Kramer, said, “The snow days have been a challenge, but it’s coming along. The sets are looking really nice.” They rented most of their set, props, and costumes from Fort Dodge.
The Little Mermaid Jr. is being run by Gina Geving and Mindy Duff through the All Call Theatre Company. The cast is made up of 87 members, starting at high school and going younger. The cast members are from Algona and the surrounding communities.
Auditions for The Little Mermaid Jr. were back in early November. The cast has been working really hard to get the show ready for its opening weekend. Reynolds also commented, “I am very proud of everybody who has gotten to be a part of the cast and crew. They have all done a very good job!”
