FFA SubDistricts

The Algona FFA Chapter has been hard at work this year. On February 13th, fourteen Algona FFA members competed at the 2024 FFA Sub-District competition in Forest City. The Algona FFA Chapter had great success at this event.

The Chapter Program works actively to implement the strategies of the organization. Morgan Kelly and Ace Studer competed for Algona in this category and brought home silver. 

Conduct of Meetings introduces ag students to parliamentary procedure as they learn to conduct meetings and communicate efficiently. Charli Dodds, Hana Perez, Malea Divis, Morgan Fraker, Maya Lentz, Alissa Engel, and Tucker Brunsvold represented Algona in this category and took home the gold medal, advancing to the District competition.

Ag broadcasting teaches students to report on ag news over the radio or television to reach non-ag viewers. For Algona, Logan Lentz competed and took home a second gold rating, advancing him to Districts. 

Ag sales develops students’ knowledge and experience in the sales world. Reid Louwagie competed for Algona and received a gold rating, making him an alternate at Districts. 

Creed in FFA outlines the organization’s morals and beliefs in agriculture, patriotism, and citizenship. Cassidy Bierstedt took on this role for Algona and won first place gold, advancing to Districts.

The Job Interview in FFA is designed to help kids practice and demonstrate that they have the skills to acquire a job in the ag industry. Ian Fehr competed for Algona and took home a gold, second place rating, advancing him to Districts. 

Public Speaking in FFA helps students compose information about ag-related topics and be able to push that information out through a public speech. Carlee Allen represented Algona and brought home bronze.

The FFA chapter worked hard all year to get these results. In total, the Algona FFA Chapter will send four individuals and the conduct of meetings team to the District meet, which will be held on March 2nd in State Center.
