Pickleball tourney 2024

The AHS doubles pickleball tournament was held on Tuesday, February 20th.  AHS Student Senate was in charge of this event, which was headed by Abby Lampe. Participants of the tournament were asked to bring a donation of $5.00 or a food donation. All proceeds collected went to the Algona Food Pantry.

The tournament kicked off at 7:00pm. There were many Algona students who showed up to take part in the fun. Many teams showed up in coordinating outfits. Everyone was distributed into a single elimination bracket and each match was played to 15 points.

After a lively night of pickleball, Logan Lentz and Daniel Kemna were crowned the AHS doubles pickleball tournament champions followed by Bella Jo Dunning and Aiden Ulrich in second. The winners received a prize of candy. Sophomore, Natalee Reemtsma, states, β€œIt was a really fun experience! I liked that it was a different activity for the whole school to participate in. Abby did a great job organizing and planning it.”

Win or lose, everyone had a blast playing, in addition to supporting the local food pantry.
