All Iowa 2024

Five AHS dance team members took the court one last time this past weekend as part of the All Iowa Honor Dance Team. They performed at Wells Fargo Arena for the Iowa Girls’ High School State Basketball Championships. Performances took place during the pregame and halftime of the 4A and 5A championship games. Their performances were broadcasted by Iowa PBS.

Allee Carr, Jada Roberts, Sydney Seebecker, Danica VanGorkom, and Maggie Wartick were who performed from AHS. Carr performed in the pregame routine on Friday night and Saturday. She performed a patriotic performance. Roberts, Seebecker, VanGorkom, and Wartick performed in the kick section during the 4A game on Saturday. Some songs included in this performance were “Call Me Maybe” and “Better When I’m Dancing.”

The girls left for Des Moines on Thursday, the 29th. They practiced Thursday and Friday at Grand View University. They worked hard, learning and cleaning the routines. Saturday morning they had one final practice on the Wells Fargo floor. Wartick stated, “I enjoyed getting to meet new people and making memories with my team.”

Back in August, all five girls spent an entire Saturday learning and auditioning for this dance team. They auditioned with over 550 other girls from around the state. They were selected among the 302 for the performance. In this honor team, there were 95 different schools across Iowa represented. VanGorkom expressed, “I loved getting to perform with people who share the same passion for dance that I do!”

Congratulations on a great finale to a great season.
