Academic Night of Excellence 2023

The 2024 Night of Academic Excellence and National Honor Society induction ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 12. The night will begin at 7:00 pm in the Ed & Betty Wilcox Performing Arts Center.

The Night of Academic Excellence recognizes students for excelling and thriving in academics. The requirements to receive the academic award varies for each grade. Freshman and sophomore students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.7 or above. Juniors and seniors must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. There will be 182 Algona High School students recognized for their high academics. 

The National Honor Society induction ceremony will be led by the current members along with the guest speaker, Corey Menning. Students inducted into the National Honor Society must be a junior or senior who meets the four pillars of the society: leadership, academics, service, and character. Members are also required to have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, two letters of recommendation, and a minimum of 30 hours of community service.  This year, 27 new members will be inducted.

One more award that seniors can receive during this special night is the NCC All Conference Academic award. This award is for seniors who possess a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and an ACT score of 26 or above. AHS seniors ecognized this year for NCC All Conference Academic include: Jacob Barglof, Ashley Cantu, Hoyt Crouch, David Hamilton, Devin Lester, Reid Louwagie, Sarah Mawdsley, Ava Petersen,  and Jenna Weiland.

Attendees will be awarded certificates in the auditorium with refreshments and a light dessert in the lobby to follow.
