Charli Dodds track 2024

The girls’ track team competed at the North Iowa Indoor Championship in Clear Lake on March 21. Coming into the meet the girls were ready to show that they are top contenders in the NCC. They competed hard and came out with a third place finish out of twelve teams. Starting with field events, Kayla Buscher, Reagan Haynes, Ashley Cantu, and Brooklyn Adams threw shot put for the girls, with Kayla Buscher finishing second with a throw of 34-06.5’ and Reagan Haynes finishing in seventh with a throw of 32-09’. The jumpers would have a productive meet with Summer Thompson finishing seventh in long jump with a jump of 15 '7.25. In high jump, Madison Ehrig finished second with a jump of 5' 2” and Maya Lentz finished seventh with a jump of 4 '10”. The runners would have another very strong meet. Starting with the 60m dash, Natalie Johnson  finished second with a time of 8.06. In the 200m dash, Lillian Allie finished fifth with a time of 29.06. In the 800m dash, Charli Dodds came in third with 2:34.89, while teammate Macy Knapp came in seventh with a time of 2:39.75. Mara Davis came in second in the 1600m with a time of 5:24.45. The girls’ 4 X 200 team came in third place with a time of 1:55.10. Natalie Johnson, Maya Lentz, Summer Thompson, and Kaitlyn Burns were the runners for the team. The 1600m medley relay team finished in fifth place with a time of 4:52.35. Johnson, Lentz, Burns, and Sienna Fehr ran in this event. The 4 X 400 team finished fifth with a time of 4:36.42. Macy Knapp, Malyn Davis, Lentz, and Charli Dodds ran for the Bulldogs. The shuttle hurdle relay team finished in fifth place with a time of 45.26. Ashlyn Waldera, Alyssa Miller, Fehr, and Cassidy Bierstedt competed for the girls. The highlight of the meet was the girls’ 4 X 800, who came in first place at the meet with a time of 10:21. The girls look to carry this momentum with them throughout the rest of the year. The girls’ next competitions are on April 4 in Eagle Grove, April 8th at Bishop Garrigan, April 9th at Bulldog Stadium, and April 11th at North Iowa High School.

The boys’ track team competed at the North Iowa Indoor Championship on March 22 where they  finished third overall and proved to the NCC that they are going nowhere. Starting with running events, in the 60m dash, Jack Limbaugh came in sixth with a time of 7.42. In the 200m dash, Will Weichert finished seventh with a time of 24.11 and Evan Allie came out with a first place finish and a time of 23.14. Gavin Weber also came home with a first overall finish in the 800m dash with a time of 2:04.44.  The boys’ 1600m medley relay team brought home a first place finish with an impressive time of 3:43.07. Will Weichert, Evan Allie, Ashton Moreno, and Gavin Weber competed in the event. The 4 X 200 team came in just behind, with a second place finish with a time of 1:35.88 with Levi Walker, Weichert, Dawson Elsbecker, and Allie running. To wrap up running events, the boys’ 4 X 800 team finished seventh with a time of 10:04.57. The runners were Jace Mortenson, Isaiah Harrison, Cohen Thilges, and Gabe Thornton. Moving onto field events, Will Weichert finished fourth in the long jump with a jump of 20-03.50’. The boys’ shot put would have four athletes on the scoring board. Will Limbaugh came in at ninth with a throw of 43-01.75’, Shriji Patel came in eighth with a throw of 32-08.25’, Jack Limbuagh came in third place with a throw of 48-08.00, and Max Nevitt came in second with a throw of 49-01.75. The boys have shown the potential of another Conference championship run in the making. Sophomore, Evan Allie, says, “Run fast, turn left.” The boys’ next competitions are on April 5th in Humboldt, April 8th at Bishop Garrigan, April 9th in Clear Lake, and April 12th in Estherville.
