Drake Relays started on April 24th and ended on April 26th. Qualifying for Drake Relays is a big accomplishment for anyone who makes it. In order to qualify, you need to have a time that qualifies in your event, classifying you as a top participant in the state for your event. All classes compete together, making it even more impressive to place against the whole state.
Down at Drake Stadium, the distance medley relay team, composed of Tate Garman, Tyler Bradley, Evan Allie, and Gavin Weber, placed fourth, Max Nevitt placed 7th in shot put, the 4x200 relay of Weichert, Garman, Bradley, and Allie placed 11th and Weichert placed 17th in the 100 meter dash. The 4x100’s of Weichert, Levi Walker, Garman, and Allie, and Lilly Allie, Kaitlyn Burns, Summer Thompson, and Natalie Johnson placed 7th and 57th respectively.
Levi Walker said, “It was an amazing time and I am looking forward to hopefully coming back next year.”
