The Bulldog track teams are nearing the end of their regular seasons and are moving into the postseason.

On Tuesday, April 24th, both the boys and girls traveled to Spirit Lake to compete against a talented field of runners. Both teams took home second place finishes and clocked multiple season best times. Individual fIrst place finishers for the boys included Will Weichert in the 100 meter dash, Tate Garman in the 200 meter dash, and Max Nevitt in both the shot put and discus. Some standout performances on the girls’ side were Natalie Johnson breaking the school record in the 100 meter dash and Charli Dodds with a first place finish in the 800 meter run. First place relays included both 4x200s, 4x400s, the girls’ 4x800 and sprint medley, and boys’ distance medley.

Unfortunately, both the boys’ home meet and the girls’ meet in Webster City on Thursday, the 24th, were cancelled due to rainy weather.

On Monday, April 28, both meets were cancelled again due to weather conditions.

On Tuesday, April 29, the Bulldogs hit the road once again, heading to Forest City for the girls and Emmetsburg for the boys. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams placed first! There were 13 first place events between the two. Standout performances were Tate Garman with a first place finish in the 200 yard dash and a personal record time of 22.55 and Evan Allie in the 400 meter dash with another first place and personal record time of 50.13. That meet concluded the regular season for the boys.

However, the girls had one last in-season meet at Mason City. They took home a 2nd place finish behind Ankeny Centennial and beat many other 4A schools. Maya Lentz broke the school record in long jump with a jump of 17’4”! Way to go Maya!

Andi Jensen says, “I can’t wait for one last postseason with my best friends!”

Next week starts the postseason for the Bulldogs. On Thursday, May 8th, the girls will be heading to Iowa Falls and the boys will travel to Clear Lake for their North Central Conference meets. Finish strong Bulldogs!
