The Bulldogs’ boys’ wrestling team wrapped up the NCC Conference tournament on Saturday, January 14th, at Humboldt, with a second place team finish. They finished with a team score of 209.5, falling only behind the Cowboys of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, who scored 255 points.
At 106, Tyler Friedrich got 4th place. At 120, Teague Alesch got 2nd place. At 126, Thomas Zabka took home 3rd place. At 132, Brooks Morgan placed 2nd. At 138, Caden Kuecker got 5th place. At 144, CJ McGregor was the champion. At 150, Barrett Morgan took home 3rd. At 157, Carter McGregor got 2nd place. At 165, Taevyn Zinnel was the champion. At 175, Brody Shipler took home 3rd place. At 190, Cael Rotert got 5th place. At 215, Tayten Rummel was the champion. And finally, at 285, Will Limbaugh took home 2nd place.
Next up on the Bulldogs’ schedule was the Regional Duals, where they hosted Osage and Sioux Center on Tuesday, February 2nd. The Bulldogs took down the Green Devils of Osage 39-24.
The win at Regional Duals allows the Bulldogs to advance to the State Dual meet on Saturday, February 7th. “Let it fly boys,” stated head coach Brian Morgan about the Bulldogs heading to the State Dual meet.
Also on the schedule for the Bulldogs is the District tournament on Saturday, February 14th. Those who place in the top two will get the opportunity to compete at the State tournament the following Wednesday through Saturday.
