Broadcasting winter 2026

Written by Taylor Coleman

Broadcasting is the way that the information is shared with the public, such as through radio, newspaper, and online. It allows people to hear the news through stories, music, and important updates. Broadcasters use their voice to inform, deliver information, and entertain people.

Broadcasting at Algona High School is very important because it helps people know what is happening. There are many broadcasting classes at Algona High School. You have to be a junior or senior to take these classes. The classes are Multi Media Projects l, Multi Media Projects ll, Multi Media Projects lll, Multi Media Projects lV, Digital, Audio & Video Production/Editing, Writing for Digital Media, Advanced Television Production, TV & Radio Announcing, and Career Seminar. Junior Charli Dodds says, “Broadcasting is easily one of my favorite classes.”

The broadcasting class does a lot at AHS! For example, they write scripts for the radio, recapping the week at Algona High School. You can listen to this radio broadcast, The Bulldog Edition, every Saturday morning at 8:30 on KLGA. They also go around the school and ask people about their experiences in high school. The class does a virtual yearbook at the end of the year and highlights videos from all sports. They also record concerts, games, and everything else that happens throughout the year. In addition, broadcasting covers local events, like the Kossuth County Fair, city hall meetings, school board meetings, and much more!
