Girls' track 2025

Written by Natalie Johnson

The 2025 girls’ track team had a strong and successful season. The team came in first in four out of the nine meets of the season, with the other meets coming in second and third.

The team had a standout season with many school records broken. Natalie Johnson broke the 100 meter dash record with a time of 12.39. Macy Knapp broke the 800 run with a time of 2:20:47. Maya Lentz broke the high jump record with a jump of 17’4”.

At State, the team had two relay times broken. The 4x100 was broken by Lilly Allie, Kaitlyn Burns, Summer Thompson, and Natalie Johnson with a time of 50.33. That race also set a new NCC meet record and qualified them for Drake Relays in late April. The 4x200 record was broken by Allie, Burns, Lentz, and Johnson with a time of 1:46.66.

Aylee Herke, a senior on this year's team, said, “Leiting makes track season so fun!”

As the 2026 season comes up, track practice will begin the 23rd of February, along with the boys. There will be eight seniors on the squad this season. Their first meet will be on March 11th, at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls. We wish the team a legendary 2026 season!
