The Algona Jazz Choir, Scarlet Midnight, has had a good year so far, participating in many concerts, with many to come.
Scarlet Midnight earned a Division I, superior, rating at the Iowa High School Music Association State Jazz Choir Festival at Clear Lake on Saturday, January 31st. There were 14 choirs that performed that day, and only five received a Division I rating, Algona being one of them!
These young adults have worked really hard to get where they are and can proudly say that they are State Division I winners!
Head director of the AHS Jazz Choir, Mr. Herbst-Ulmer, says, “The Jazz Choir is ramping up and getting ready for a great contest season.”
Their next performance will be at the Shake the Lakes competition, hosted by Spirit Lake High School, on February 20th.
