The fall musical at AHS was a comedic take on the classic story of a mother and daughter who switch bodies. The musical, Freaky Friday, follows Katherine, an overworked wedding planner, and her rebellious teenage daughter, Ellie, who are constantly against each other. When they find an hourglass and smash it, it causes them to switch bodies. They are forced to navigate through each other's lives until they can figure out how to switch back. Through their chaotic day, they learn to appreciate each other's struggles and work together to get back into their own bodies.
Leads in the musical were Catherine Hart as the mom and Kennedy Blair as her teenage daughter. The cast consisted of twenty-two AHS students and the crew was another eleven students. The production was directed by Todd Herbst-Ulmer.
The AHS students performed for the elementary and the middle school students on the Friday before the official performances. Official performances took place on October 28th and 29th.
The fall musical was a big success with students working hard for months on a production that featured strong performances from actors and crew. As Catherine, playing Katherine, says, “Make good choices!”
