The Outstanding Performers Showcase will take place on May 19th in Ames at Iowa State University. The showcase features many students from across Iowa who were selected as “Outstanding Performers” or “Best of Center” at the Iowa High School Music Association, IHSMA, State Solo and Ensemble Festival earlier this year. Those selected are able to perform their solo or ensemble from the previous contest and celebrate their success.
Students from Algona who were selected as outstanding performers are Owen Orban on oboe, David Kissinger on French horn, and Paul Kissinger on tuba. Each will perform their solo along with the other outstanding performers. Mr. Liebl, Algona’s high school band director, said, “I think what’s special about this is that there were four instrumental sites and Algona took three of them as Best of Center. It is a testament to Owen, Paul, and David’s hard work.”
Owen will perform at 1:07pm, Paul at 1:37pm, and David at 2:07pm. Congratulations on their hard work and good luck to all who are performing!
