As the school year is coming to an end, the Algona FFA Chapter has so many memories and accomplishments to look back on. From competitions, leadership events, and community service, this year has been filled with growth, hard work, and unforgettable experience. Throughout the year, members have had the opportunity to develop leadership skills, meet new people, and represent the chapter in many different ways.

There are many activities that have taken place this year. There was a Welcome Back BBQ that took place on September 2nd. The officers spoke about upcoming events for the chapter. Another event to recognize was Homecoming. Several FFA members rode on the FFA float. Walker Eilerts and Braxton Bierle drove tractors to lead the float in the parade. The next event to look back on was the North Central District Soil Judging Contest that took place on October 1st. There were 14 FFA members who competed. Algona team one won first place, consisting of Grady Ruger, Riley Schechinger, Cassidy Bierstedt, and Malea Divis. Since they got first place overall, they earned themselves a trip to the State FFA Soil Judging Contest. At State, Bierstedt got 19th, Schechinger got 57th, Ruger got 61st, and Divis got 77th. Seven FFA members traveled to Indianapolis for the National FFA Convention in October. They got to see the history museum, alpacas, went to a rodeo, met the Secretary of Agriculture, and attended a career fair. On March 29th, Algona FFA had their annual banquet. This event recognizes the students in FFA and also rewards seniors with scholarships. The most important aspect of the banquet is electing new officers for the new year. The State Convention was held on April 14th. Levi Allen, Cassidy Bierstedt, and Grant KramGreenhouse 2026er were awarded the Iowa FFA Degree at this event and the Algona FFA Chapter was recognized for earning a Silver rating in the National Chapter Award and advancing to the national level. The plant sale just wrapped up, the test plot got planted this week, and students are currently nominating animals for the county and State fair. This is just some of the numerous events that have taken place over the 2025-2026 school year.

Overall, this year has been full of success, leadership, and unforgettable memories for the Algona FFA Chapter. Junior FFA President, Malea Divis, says, “FFA is fun! Don’t be afraid to try a new contest or attend an event because you never know where the blue jacket is going to take you.” Members have worked hard throughout the year to represent the chapter in competitions, community service events, and leadership activities.
