Karla Kenne 2026

Written by Taylor Coleman

After 26 years of working in Kindergarten Prep, and 28 years at Algona Community School District, Karla Kenne is wrapping up her career. Throughout the years, Kenne has created an uplifting and positive impact on students, coworkers, and the school community.

Before Kenne started working at the school, she was a lab technician at the hospital. She worked in the hospital for 15 years. Kenne started working as an associate in 1998. She worked in kindergarten for two years and then for the past 26 years she has been working alongside Mrs. Goodman in the Kindergarten Prep classroom.

Karla Kenne says, “The thing I will miss most is watching kids master new skills and being so proud of themselves when they accomplish them.” Kenne has learned many things throughout her time in education. The most important aspect of education she says is taking the time to learn about each individual student. Having a connection with them can help them get their work done and grow to their full potential.

Karla Kenne will really miss the working environment at Bertha Godfrey. She says that everyone is always willing to help and work as a team. She is very thankful for working with Diane Goodman for many years; they have a great relationship and became friends along the way.

Karla Kenne’s plans for retirement include traveling, including a hopeful dream trip to Alaska. She will volunteer, spend time with her five grandchildren, and grow her garden.

Kenne will continue to show resilience, leadership, and dedication in everything she does and we wish her the best in her retirement.
