Mr. Weier has been a school teacher for 34 years. He first started teaching at Belle Fourche, South Dakota, where he taught for one year. During that time he taught five different classes in four different classrooms, all while coaching middle school wrestling and helping with high school football. His next teaching job was in Elk Point, South Dakota, where he taught eight different classes in three years and coached high school football, wrestling, track, and softball. After that, Weier taught math at Spencer High School for six years. He coached high school football and wrestling during his time at Spencer.
In 2002, Mr. Weier came to Algona where he taught both middle school and high school math. Throughout his 24 years teaching at Algona, he has also coached football, wrestling, and golf. In teaching and coaching, Mr. Weier does a nice job of incorporating humor with the content.
Mr. Weier has learned a lot throughout his time teaching. A major take away he has is that people just want to feel valued. Weier has met and worked with a lot of really good people throughout his years teaching and coaching. Mr Weier says, “Those experiences are what I will miss the most when my time as a teacher and coach is over.”
Mr. Weier has not fully decided what his plans are for retirement yet, but he is looking forward to relaxing, golfing, camping, and learning how to fish. He is excited that after 53 years, “I’ve finally made it out of school!”
Thank you Mr. Weier for your hard work and dedication that you have put into teaching and coaching throughout the years.
