For many high school students, the ACT is the most important test in their life. This test can feel like a major step towards college and into the future. With test dates coming up, students are preparing themselves for the questions, time limits, and pressure that comes with taking the ACT. The first ACT testing time held in Algona will take place at Algona High School on Saturday, October 17th, at 8:00 am.

ACT testing fall 2026 The ACT is a standardized test designed to measure the skills of students and everything they have learned in their high school career. The tests cover subjects such as English, math, science, reading, and an optional choice of writing. Approximately 43% of high school students take the ACT to prepare for college. While this test is optional, it can help you  get good scholarships for college if you score high enough.

To register to take the test, you have to create an account at MyAct, select the location, date, and then pay the fee before the deadline. Senior Taylor VanOtterloo says, “The ACT is a great way to test your knowledge for science, English, and math.”

The average test score is 21.0. The test can also help students see what subjects they are strongest in and what they can improve on.

Overall, the ACT is a good opportunity for students to show what they know and see how prepared they are for college. While the test seems stressful, studying ahead of time and staying confident can make a big difference. Remember to do your best, take your time, and don’t let your score define you.
