The weather has been hot, but the cross country team has been hotter.
Algona cross country teams traveled to Spencer on August 27th. The Algona ladies placed sixth as a team. The placings for the girls were Mara Davis in 17th, Chelsy Vicente Gomez in 37th place, Evelyn Kissinger in 42nd place, Hadley Friedrich in 50th place, Karsyn Bailey in 52nd place, and Elise Duff in 54th place. The men's team placed 7th overall. The top finishers were Axton Hood in 12th place, Brooks Morgan in 18th place, Landon Becker in 19th place, Gradon Dahlhauser in 47th place, Caden Harms in 50th place, Brenden Sampson in 52nd place, and Ryan Ruehle in 64th place. Excellent job Bulldogs!
On September 1st, the Algona cross country teams went to the Webster City cross country invite. Although it was very hot, the Bulldogs ran very well. Due to the heat, the JV runners ran with the Varsity. The top female placers were Charli Dodds in 8th place, Chelsy Vicente Gomez in 22nd place, Evelyn Kissinger in 23rd place, Hadley Friedrich in 31st place, Karson Bailey in 36th place, Chelsy Vicente Gomez in 41st place, Olivia Adams in 47th place, and Elyse Stuff in 51st place. “I should’ve joined cross country sooner, but better late than never,” stated Charli Dodds. Overall the girls’ team placed 5th. The men's team top finishers were Brooks Morgan in 13th place, Axton Hood in 19th place, Grandon Dahlhauser in 31st, Brenden Sampson in 51st, Ryan Ruehle in 55th place, Caden Harms in 64th place, Chase Abendroth in 69th place, Ethan Orban in 70th place, Gavin Bronson in 74th place, and Micah Kelley in 75th place. Overall as a team the boys got 7th place.
On September 8th, the Bulldogs were supposed to travel to Estherville, but this meet got cancelled due to weather. Next week the Bulldogs travel to Storm Lake on September 15th. Good luck Dogs!
