The Algona FFA chapter kicked off the 2026-2027 year with their annual officer retreat in June. The 2026-2027 officer team consists of senior president, Malea Divis, senior vice president, Cassidy Bierstedt, senior reporter, Charli Dodds, senior treasurer, Wyatt Kelly, junior secretary, Grace Lutjens, and sophomore sentinel, Josie Reynolds.
Several Algona students competed in the Kossuth County Fair in early August with livestock. Some highlights include freshman Rilyn Tuttle with champion market lamb and lamb showmanship, Kaden Bormann with champion market steer, Charli Dodds was champion senior beef showman, Wyatt Kelly was champion market goat, Lydia Bormann was champion breeding ewe, and Emma Spear was champion senior swine showman.
The annual welcome back BBQ took place on August 31st where all FFA members and parents were invited to enjoy a burger meal cooked by the FFA chapter. At the BBQ, the officer team discussed the goals and events for the new school year.
The Farm Progress Show took place on August 3rd. Four FFA members attended and got the chance to see the future of technology in agriculture.
Next up for the FFA chapter includes competitions in soil judging and livestock judging.
