Twenty students from the AHS Model UN team went to the North Central Iowa Regional Conference on Thursday, September 24th, at NIACC in Mason City. This was the first conference of the year for Model UN.
Model UN is an event where students from around the state meet to represent delegations from different countries and use articles and amendments to solve international issues.
Students represented the countries Iraq, Nigeria, and Spain, and they addressed many topics, such as managing aquifers and river basins, organ trafficking, the targeting of energy resources in conflict, and many others.
Mr. Stein, the Model UN advisor, thinks that “it’s gonna be a great first meeting to knock some rust off and understand what Model UN is about.”
