The Bulldogs have done it again! For the second year in a row, the Algona Bulldogs have won the All Sports Conference Champion Award. This award is given out to the school in a given conference with the best conference record throughout all sports. Even though there is no plaque or medal for this award, it is a high conference award as it takes top placings in multiple sports to obtain. It has been tracked for the last 25 years.
Each placing for the All Sports award starts with 8 for first, 7 for second, and continues. The Dawgs won North Central Conference titles in girls basketball, girls dual team wrestling, girls individual wrestling, girls track, girls softball, and boys baseball. Girls volleyball and golf finished second, along with boys wrestling individuals, boys track, and dual boys wrestling. Boys basketball finished in third.
The Algona High School Bulldogs edged out the Clear Lake Lions by just one point, 89 for AHS and 88 for CLHS.
The Bulldogs are on track for another great year with lots of returning athletes in several sports this school year. “This award really shows the dedication and commitment of the Algona High student athletes,” says Teague Alesch.
