The Algona construction class has been rolling through their projects. There are eight students in the class currently: Sienna Fehr, Jaren Eischen, Justin Eischen, Logan Yeoman, Jacob Struecker, Gavin Maxwell, Granden Dahlhauser, and Coyer Spear. The class is taught by Birkey. “It’s fun!” says Coyer Spear. The goal of the construction class is for students to learn basic construction skills.
The construction class's first project was a garage. They replaced the shingles and fixed a burn spot at the top of the garage.
They are currently halfway through shingling a house. On rainy days they help clear out old cabinets and are talking down walls in a building that is going to be redone.
Their next project is building a deck at the Buffalo Creek Nature preserve in Titonka.
