The FCCLA team has been off to an exciting start this school year. They have a great group of returning members and many first year members. They are led by teacher Shelly Louwagie, and Gabby Venteicher is the returning president.
FCCLA started the school year off with their annual kickoff party on Monday, September 21st. They hosted all returning and new members in an exciting meeting. They discussed all of the upcoming events and celebrated with a homemade pizza party. When asked about the meeting, junior Eden Geddings said, “It's a great way to meet new people and learn what exciting things we are going to do this year.”
A group of FCCLA members traveled to Iowa State University to attend a Leadership Rally on Monday, September 21st. While there, they split into two categories. They participated in workshops and were given tours in the health and wellness and education department.
FCCLA members are currently working on their annual apple pie and crisp fundraiser. They are selling apple pies and apple crisps to raise money for their leadership conferences they will attend this school year. Each item is sold for $15. They are made with locally picked apples and are delicious. The members have been working hard peeling apples, premaking the pies, and selling as many as possible. Make sure to support the FCCLA in their fundraiser!
At the end of October, they will be attending the District meeting in Fort Dodge, at Iowa Central. Sophomore Emily Oldenkamp is a district officer this year. Keep up the good work!
