High school Quiz Bowl can be a fun activity to be involved in throughout the year. Quiz Bowl is a high paced competition where you have to think critically, work well as a team, and answer questions as fast as you can under pressure. Students answer questions about literature, science, history, and pop culture. Quiz Bowl competitions are held in tournament form, with different teams competing against each other until there is a winner.
Algona's Quiz Bowl team is made up of 15 individuals, and they are always looking for more participants. This year they have two senior boys, Thomas Espe and Owen Orban.
They hold practices on Mondays after school and when there are
tournaments they are usually held on Saturday mornings. This year they have four tournaments scheduled. Their first one was held at Garrigan on Saturday, October 17th. They sent three teams to the competition with two of the three finishing in the top eight. The first team included Thomas Espe, Ryan Ruehle, and Landon Menning. That team placed 5th overall. The second team included Owen Orban, Brody Sudol, and Zach Villeta. They placed 7th as a team.
Their next tournament is their home tournament on November 7th. They are looking for volunteers for it if anyone is interested. Good luck on the next one Bulldogs!
