This week’s Senior Spotlight is the one and only, Halo Gronbach! Halo is a social butterfly and has been involved in countless extracurricular activities throughout her time at AHS, such as band, choir, football and basketball cheerleading, volleyball, track and field, the musical, Student Senate, and National Honor Society. She also spends her free time volunteering and participating in fundraisers. For example, in the midst of the pandemic in 2020, Halo made and donated over 200 masks. Halo gets along well with almost everyone at AHS, and teachers love her sense of humor!

Although senior year looks a little different this year, Halo manages to stay positive and is enjoying every minute. Halo spoke highly about her experiences so far in the 2020-2021 school year, “Even through Covid-19, I’m just glad I can be involved and spend time with my friends at school.”

Halo lives in Wesley, Iowa, along with her father, mother, step-father, and brothers. Her two younger twin brothers, Ace and Chance, are 8th graders at Algona. Halo spends some of her free time posing as a “chauffeur” and bringing her younger brothers into town for a variety of after school activities.

Halo’s favorite part about being a senior is “getting to park in the senior lot and have open campus!” She loves being able to eat out at many of her favorite restaurants, such as The Chrome, McDonald’s, and Pizza Ranch.

Next year, Halo plans on attending Iowa State University in Ames and majoring in Early Childhood Education. Halo absolutely loves children and strives to be an elementary teacher in the future. Upon asking Halo about her feelings towards college, she responded that she is “nervous but ready for the next chapter of life.”

Don’t forget to say hello to this week’s “Senior Spotlight” Halo Gronbach! Next school year won’t be the same without her.
