After the rush of State, the AHS Diamond Dance Team was excited to conquer the rest of their season during halftimes at home basketball games. However, they were informed by Mr. Jacobson, AHS athletic director, that the team would be unable to perform. The excitement drained from the girls; their spirits came down from having to end the sport early.

Luckily, towards the beginning of January, Jacobson was able to let the AHS dance team perform for halftimes once again. Now the dance team happily gets together in the PAC to practice routines.

The captains have been hard at work to choreograph dances for the team to perform and for the audience to enjoy. One hard working dancer, as well as a captain of the team, Jasmyne Harrison, says, “We have so many great ideas planned this winter! The team and I can’t wait to show off the love we have for our sport!”

With the COVID pandemic changing so much of what they’re used to, it’s refreshing to see the dancers still working hard to put on a show!

The girls’ next performance is during halftime of the girls’ Varsity basketball game on January 29th and then at halftime of the boys’ Varsity basketball games on February 5th and 16th!

At State, the girls performed pom, but with the halftime shows, you can see all kinds of different dances like hip hop and jazz.

Now that students can go to games, there’s no excuse to not come and cheer not only for the players, but also for the dancers! If you can’t make it to the game, no worries! Broadcasting live streams the whole game, including halftime, so you won’t have to miss a performance!

Don’t forget to wish the team luck! They’ve already performed for two halftimes and they’re working harder than they ever have this winter to put on more shining performances and they deserve the gratitude!
