The end of the year is coming very soon but there are some very important dates to keep in mind. Wednesday, May 12th, seniors pick up the last ever check out sheet. They will be available in the commons either during lunch or right after school. On the check out sheet there are lines to have a faculty member sign for fees, computer turn in, book turn in, etc.
On Monday, May 17th, and Tuesday, May 18th, are semester test days for seniors. The 17th is odd periods held in the regular schedule and the 18th is the even periods’ regular schedule.
Wednesday, May 19th, is the seniors’ last day and is also a very busy day for the seniors. First of all, make sure to bring your cap and gown. These will hang up in the visitor locker room before breakfast. Breakfast, provided by the AHS faculty, will be from 7:30am until 8:30am and it will be in the commons. The award ceremony will start at 8:30 in the Wilcox Performing Arts Center. It will include awards and scholarships and will end around 9:45am. Next is the Walk Through the Ages. During this, all seniors walk through the different Algona Community School district buildings. Seniors wear their caps and gowns through this event. Commencement rehearsal will follow the Walk Through the Ages, at around 10:45am in the Algona High School gym. If everything goes well, rehearsal should be done by 12:30pm. After the rehearsal, seniors will start the check out process in the high school gym, turning in the check-out sheets. At around 1:35 all students will meet in the PAC for the end of the year activities including the Algonies, the end of the year video, College Decision Day, and several other recognitions.
The commencement ceremony will be on Sunday, May 23rd, at 2:00pm. Don't be late to the ceremony. Seniors will meet in the middle school commons by 1:00pm. Men should wear dress shoes, dress pants, and a nice, collared shirt. Ladies should wear dress shoes that are comfortable to walk in and appropriate attire.
