Track 2021 - Justice Fehr

The Algona girls’ and boys’ track teams are in their final weeks of competition, with Conference and District meets quickly approaching for the Bulldogs. The girls competed in Humboldt and the boys competed in Hampton for their North Central Conference meet, both on May 6th.

At Humboldt, Algona girls placed third out of the eight teams in the Conference with 115 team points. Humboldt won the North Central Conference meet with 160 team points. Dionna VanGorkom placed first in the high jump with a jump of 4’8”. The 4x200 meter relay of Ava Henry, Radaisyia Thomas, Kayla Thompson, and Alexa Chase placed first with a time of 1:53.54.

On the boys’ side, they placed fifth out of eight teams in the Conference with 62 team points. Clear Lake won the North Central Conference meet with 191 team points. Caleb Omdahl placed third in the high jump at a height of 5’8”. Ryan Stundahl ran the 3,200 meter run with a time of 10:39.14 to place third. The 4x200 meter relay team of Porter Reffer, Cameron Rindone, Carlos Gomez, and Tyler Manske placed third with a time of 1:35.80.  

Both teams traveled to Nevada for their 3A District meet on Thursday, May 13th. At Districts, the top two place winners in each event, plus the next eight performances statewide from qualifying meets, will advance to the State meet. 

Iowa High School State Track meet takes place on Thursday, the 20th, Friday, the 21st, and Saturday, the 22nd of May in Des Moines.
