Softball 2021

Both the 2021 softball and baseball seasons went well and had some highs and lows. Both seasons came to a close in July.

For the girls’ softball, they ended the season with a 13-12 overall record and in the Conference they finished 7-7. Mr. VanOtterloo, the girls’ Varsity coach, states, “The team lost quite a few close games. The girls competed every night out and did good things throughout the season.” Some great things that happened during the season that Mr. VO is proud of are: the team beating Humboldt High School twice and winning seven games in a row.

Three girls from the team made some recognition for themselves. Lillian Etherington made 1st team All Conference and 3rd Team All State. Lily Elsbecker made 2nd All Conference and Ryan Haynes was 3rd Team All Conference.

For the boys’ baseball team, they ended with a 16-15 record. Mr. Slagle, the Varsity coach for the baseball team, had six seniors graduating from the team. Tyler Manske says, “Baseball is a great way to spend your summer.” Some highlights from the season include the win against Clarion Goldfield Dows, 12-1. On Senior Night, the team also had another win, against Bishop Garrigan, 9-8. To close the season, unfortunately the team lost in the Sub-State 1st round game against Clear Lake.
