The Algona swim team has been tough at work with multiple meets under their belt already this season. The girls’ swim team only has five members from Algona this year. The girls had their first meet at Spencer on August 24, 2021, and were excited to get into the water!
The swim team had another meet on August 26, at Perry. Algona lost 67-80 against Perry. Caitlin Shannon placed 3rd in the 100 yard Freestyle with a time of 1:28.14. Rayna Stammer placed 3rd in the 200 yard Freestyle with a time of 3:21.84.
On September 7, a meet was held at Boone with Algona and Perry. Algona placed 3rd overall with 21 points. Caitlin Louscher placed 4th in the 100 yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:55.12. Stammer placed 5th in the 200 yard Freestyle with a time of 3:19.28.
The Algona girls traveled to Fort Dodge on September 9, to face off against Fort Dodge and Sioux City North. The girls did very well and had good times.
On September 14, a meet was held at Perry with Algona. The Algona girls lost against Perry 51-90. The girls worked on improving their times from previous meets and did an amazing job.
Next up, on September 23, the Algona girls will be traveling to Fort Dodge to compete against Perry and Fort Dodge. The meet will be held at the Fort Dodge Senior High School at 5:30pm.
