Band halftime 2021

The Scarlet Regiment Marching Band has been working hard all summer to prepare for this year’s marching band season. The band has morning practices, night practices, as well as practicing during band class. They have been learning new, cool routines and perform them during halftime of Algona High School football games.

The theme for this year’s performances for the band is “RISE.” They perform the songs “Time of War,” “Time of Dread,” and “Time of Joy.”

On September 18th, the band will be going to southern Minnesota for a band festival. Sophomore trumpet player, Jaxon Roberts, says, “I like band, it’s fun. I think people should consider joining band.”

Scarlet Regiment’s band director, Nick Liebl, is one incredibly positive person. Liebl likes to push the band members to be their best and works with each one individually to achieve or help reach their goals. Former AHS band director, Kurt Kissinger, has been helping with the band as well, to help them be even more successful. Kissinger is even doing what he loves, as he is the Algona Middle School band director.

You can check out the band at some local events. The band will be marching in the Homecoming parade on September 24th. The Scarlet Regiment and many other bands around Iowa and even Minnesota are performing on October 2nd, 2021, at Algona Band Day. Here they will compete in the parade portion and also in a field show competition. Then, on October 9th, 2021, the band will be traveling to Fort Dodge for the IHSMA State marching contest.
