College visits

As the last year of high school is underway for this year’s seniors, many are looking to their future and what next year will hold for them. If college is what your future holds, a college visit is a great place to start in determining where you should go from here.

To plan a college visit, go to the website of the college you are interested in. From there, find the “visit” icon. This will walk you through how to schedule a visit. Don’t forget to let the AHS office know when your visit will be. Students are able to take two days for college visits per school year, but more can be arranged if needed.

No matter where you go to tour, there are some tips of things to look for. One thing to look for are the positives and negatives of the size of your college. Does a large college make you feel comfortable and will you be able to be successful? Is a small college too personal and close or is it just right for you?  Next is the location of the college, are you looking close to home or further? One of the major items to look for is the academics offered. Does this college have any academic majors that might interest you? Does this college offer the academic focus area you are searching for? Are they known for a high success rate of job placement after graduation? Be sure to check the student life at the college that interests you too. Does this college have any groups or organizations that you could join? Do they have any clubs that you would be interested in? Do they have any study groups? Does this college have any groups that are strictly for what you are majoring in? These tips and many more can be found on www.ICANsucceed.org.

The next step in life will be here before you know it seniors, start planning now for your future! Get out there and see what different colleges have to offer.
