Blake Elsbecker

Blake Elsbecker is a new teacher at AHS. He is familiar with the AHS staff as he graduated from Algona in 2016. Upon high school graduation, Elsbecker attended the University of Northern Iowa and majored in history education. Elsbecker has always wanted to be a teacher. He loves the town of Alonga, which is why he chose to come back and be a teacher here.  His hobbies include hunting pheasants, golfing, watching The Office, and hanging out with family and friends. Elsbecker also enjoys picking on his little cousins, Lilly and Kaitlin.

Here at AHS you can find Blake in his room #24 . He teaches world studies and psychology. “Everyday is an opportunity to be great!” Elsbecker says. He is also the boys’ basketball assistant coach. When you walk into his door, you are greeted with a wave and a smile. In his class, you will find a mixture of work on paper and the use of technology. You will also find that he is pretty laid back. Elsbecker states, “School is not a prison; it’s a place to learn.” He brings this teaching philosophy to his classes and tries to make the classes a mixture of activities and assignments.

Mr. Blake Elsbecker is a great addition to the staff here at AHS; be sure to welcome him when you see him around!
