State Soils 2021

On Wednesday, October 6, 2021, seven FFA members: Hunter Thilges, Jordan Buscher, Aidan Morris, Reid Louwagie, Dane Kitzinger, Logan Lentz, and Joseph Ricklefs all participated at the 2021 North Central District FFA Soil/Land Judging competition. Algona had two different teams that were entered into the competition. Algona ended up finishing second overall and qualified for the Iowa FFA State Soil/Land Judging competition out of the 54 teams and 179 individuals who participated in the event. 

Algona FFA 1 was led by Hunter Thilges, finishing in 1st place.  He was followed by team members Jordan Buscher in 4th place, Aidan Morris in 6th place, and Reid Louwagie in 10th place. Algona FFA competition 2 members who participated at the District Soils competition include: Dane Kitzinger, finishing in 16th place, Logan Lentz in 26th place, and Joseph Ricklefs.

Also on Wednesday, October 6th, Algona FFA had fifteen Exploring Ag students participate in the North Central District Greenhand Fire Up for their first year being a part of the FFA team. The students met over 400 other first year members from other chapters in our District. They all enjoyed all the exciting activities and making new friends with similar interests.

The FFA State Soil/Land Judging competition was held on the campus of Iowa State University on Saturday, October 9th, 2021. Algona FFA members Hunter Thilges, Jordan Buscher, Aidan Morris, and Dane Kitzinger participated in the Iowa FFA State Soil contest and finished in 7th place. Individually, Hunter Thilges finished in 9th place. Congrats to all who participated!
