Honor Cheer 2021

AHS cheerleaders, senior Maddie Nevitt, senior Allison Kramer, and junior Quela Heidelberg, were chosen to participate in the Honor Cheer group that will perform at the State football games in the UNI dome in two weeks. Algona cheer coach, Kristy Riggert, was only able to pick three cheerleaders to nominate for this recognition. There are only about 250 cheerleaders from around the state of Iowa who are chosen to participate in Honor Cheer.

The girls will only have one and half days to learn and practice their halftime cheer routines.  It is a very fast-paced learning environment.

Going to Honor Cheer allows the girls to experience what it is like to cheer at the collegiate level. Maddie Nevitt agrees, saying, “I hope it will get me more experience to get into college cheerleading next year.”

The girls will be performing on Thursday, November 18th, at the UNI dome in Cedar Falls.  They will get to do their routine twice, during the halftimes of the 1A Championship football game, which starts at 4:00pm, and again during the 4A Championship football game, which starts at 7:00pm.   You can watch them during the halftimes by going to the IHSAA website.
