Pep band 1/7/22

During home basketball games, the Algona band pep band performs during halftime of the girls’ and boys’ games. The Algona band practices music during band class to help prepare them for a great performance.

A special part of the pep band is that alumni and community members can join and play along. This year, middle school students area also joining.

The pep band starts the game out by playing the school song and the “Star Spangled Banner.”

Just two minutes before halftime, the band gets ready, getting all in position to play. When that buzzer goes off, the band starts to play their halftime show. The music they play is anything from the oldies to new songs.  Some songs you would get to hear are: ¨Bad Romance,¨ ¨Don’t Stop Believing,¨ ¨Eye of the Tiger,¨ ¨Final Countdown,¨ ¨The Greatest Show,¨ ¨Seven Nation Army,¨ and ¨Sweet Caroline.¨ There are many more they know and love to play.

The band only gets a few games to perform at. Most recently, they played on January 7th. The band teacher, Nick Liebl, says, “It’s way too much fun! It’s awesome to see all of the alumni and middle schoolers come and play. It was electric and exciting.” Having this as Liebl’s first pep band experience at AHS, he very much enjoyed it.

Come out and watch the basketball game and get a special performance from the band. Upcoming performances are: January 25th, February 4th, and February 11th. Members are all so excited to play at the basketball games, come catch their excitement.
