Large group speech is something that many kids enjoy each year and look forward to. There are four different large group speech categories that Algona High School students will be competing in this year. Those include Musical Theater, Group Improvisation, Readers Theater, and One-Act Play. There are a total of 20 participants from AHS this year.
For Musical Theater, AHS has three different performances. The first group is “Songs of A New World” and that will be performed by Riker Brindley, Shea Thilges, Kylie Skow, and Seth Walker. Next, participants will perform “Billy Elliot.” Loralei Brady will be playing Mrs. Wilkinson/dead mum and Aidyn Schmitt will be playing the role of Billy. The last group will perform “Mama Mia.” Aleena Rosacker, Sydney Seebecker, and Evan Posey will be performing in this group.
The next category is Group Improvisation. For Group Improv there will be two different groups and a total of four people in each group. The first group includes Wyatt Struecker, Loralei Brady, Calipso McCann, and Sadie Johnson. The second group will be Kylie Barnett, Jordan Barnett, Rayna Stammer, and Izaha Crawmer.
For Readers Theater, they will be performing “Fidget,” by Bradley Hayward. In this, Sadie Johnson will be playing Aiden, Wyatt Struecker will be playing Carson, Izaha Crawmer will be playing Devine, Aidyn Schmitt will be playing Emersyn, Cassie Beenken will be playing Fidget, and Wren Menke will be the voice. Kylie Barnett will be in Ensemble 1. Jordan Barnett will be in Ensemble 2. Rayna Stammer will be in Ensemble 3. Calipso McCann will be in Ensemble 4, and Joseph Struecker will be in Ensemble 5.
Lastly will be the One-Act plays. They will be performing “Stroke Static,” by Lindsay Price. Riker Brinkley will be playing the role of Russ, Kylie Skow will be playing as Ruthie, Seth Walker will be Bill/son, Shea Thilges will be playing Megan, Wren Menke will be playing the role of Carmel, Cassie Beenken, Sydney Seebecker, Aleena Rosacker are all playing women in the play while Jayden Erpelding and Joseph Struecker will play men.
Good luck to all of these participants in the upcoming large group speech season. The District competition will be held on Saturday, January 22nd.
