Dylan Alt, a freshman at AHS, qualified for the State swim meet. He competed with some of his teammates from the Fort Dodge Schools.
Since Algona Community Schools does not offer a swim program for boys, Alt has been competing with the Fort Dodge Dodgers this year. Every school day, he makes the trip down to Fort Dodge for practice and meets.
At the State meet, Dylan placed 17th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:51.75 and 19th in the 200th freestyle with a time of 1:46.49, just missing the qualifications to move on to the next day. He competed hard and was happy overall about his times for both of his races but was sad he did not get to move on.
Alt plans on competing with the Fort Dodge team again next year and states, “It was a great experience and I hope to go back again.”
