Global food Italian noodles

In global foods class, with Mrs. Louwagie, the class has been making some very good food recently. The point of the class is to learn different cultures and their food styles from all over the world.

The last two items they whipped up were an Italian noodle dish and cheesecake. One of the groups was Tyler Manske and Trevon Smith. For the Italian noodle dish, they decided to make alfredo. Smith worked on hand making the noodles while Manske cooked up the alfredo sauce. After the alfredo sauce was done, Manske then helped finish making the dough. The dough had to sit for 30 minutes, so Smith ran home quickly to go get some chicken. He arrived back quickly and started cooking the chicken on the stove. While he was finishing up the chicken, Manske put the dough through a noodle machine to make the dough noodle shaped. He then boiled the noodles for about two minutes to harden them up a bit. After the two minutes were up, they drained the noodles and added the chicken and alfredo sauce. After stirring it well, they ate it. The report back was that the chicken alfredo was a success! Other groups made different types of sauces, one being marinara.

Two days later, the global foods class all made mini cheesecakes. Everyone started making the graham cracker crust right away while someone in the group started on the cheesecake part. After the graham cracker crust was finished, everyone in the group helped with finishing mixing all of the ingredients together for the cheesecake. They filled a six cupcake sized pan to the brim with the graham cracker crust and the cheesecake part. They then let that bake in the oven for about 20 minutes. During those 20 minutes, most groups got the dishes done. After the 20 minutes were up, the students carefully took the cheesecakes out of the oven and cooled them in the fridge for about another 20 minutes. After that was over, they all topped the cheesecakes with their favorite toppings. Cherries, strawberries, and carmel were popular choices. Landon Welp said, “They were smack!”

The students now are going to have to gear up for a test on the entire Italian unit.
