Academic Night of Excellence

The Academic Night of Excellence, to be held on March 14th at 6:30, is a night that recognizes students for their academic achievements at AHS.

One part of the Academic Night of Excellence is the Honors Recognition. Juniors and seniors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or more and freshmen and sophomores with a cumulative GPA of 3.7 and above will be recognized. Andra Hoover, one of the seniors who will be recognized for this, says, “This is a great way to acknowledge hard working students and their accomplishments.”

Also recognized are the students who achieve NCC All Conference Academic status. Students who receive this must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and an ACT score of 26 or above.

This night is also for the induction of new members into the Algona chapter of National Honor Society. The new members of the National Honor Society will be inducted and the previous members of NHS will lead the induction ceremony. Some of the existing members will talk on the topic of the four pillars of National Honor Society: character, leadership, academics, and service. Jeff Knapp, a previous AHS NHS alumnus, will also be giving a speech on how he uses these pillars today to be successful.

This formal event will be held in the Ed & Betty Wilcox Performing Arts Center. Parents are invited to attend on March 14th at 6:30. After the ceremony, there will be a light dessert and refreshments in the PAC lobby.
