Advanced bio 2022 - river testing

Mr. Young's advanced biology class took a trip to Wildhaven on Monday, September 12th. They went into the river in waders and tested the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of the water. They also observed the stream habitat.

They analyzed the PH in the river, as it should be anywhere between 6.5 to 8.5. They recorded 7.8, falling perfectly between the ideal numbers. They also tested dissolved oxygen, which the levels should stay above 5 mg/L. The class got a level of 8 mg/L, which showed that the river they tested was very healthy.

This was a great hands-on learning experience for the students in understanding river characteristics and how it helps the ecosystem.
