The Bulldogs are coming up on the halfway mark for their season. They currently have a 3-2 record, defeating Emmetsburg, Clear Lake, and Garner-Hayfield Ventura. Their lossed came from a good Boyden-Hull Rock Valley team and a tough North Polk team.
The Bulldogs lost 19-7 to BHRV on September 16. Highlights for the Bulldogs from this game include Alex Manske’s 132 passing yards paired with 38 rushing yards. Lamorn Ulfers had 44 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Caden Weber led the Bulldogs in receiving yards with 59. Manske led the team in tackles, having 11.5, and collecting one interception.
On September 23, the Bulldogs traveled to North Polk. The Bulldogs lost 55-28 to the North Polk Comets. It was a tough and hard fought game. Alex Manske threw for two touchdowns and Lamorn Ulfers rushed for one. Lamorn also led the team in tackles, with seven. Head Coach Andy Jacobson said after the game, “We need to come back with a good week of practice and less excuses.”
The Dogs now host Gilbert on September 30, which is also Algona’s Homecoming night. The Tigers come into the contest with an 1-4 record with their most recent game being a loss to Nevada. The game kicks off at 7:00 tonight.
